The 2005 summer cruise began with a trip to the Dry Tortugas and Key West in June, followed by a rather brief visit to the Bahamas after a 3 day delay in leaving Ft Lauderdale due to storms. Following the return to Ft. Lauderdale and some repairs Capt. Hall and a mate delivered to the boat to Norfolk. Luke decided not to continue on a full time basis and Debbie resigned for health reasons, so I became much more involved in the responsibilities of running and maintaining the vessel.
I hired a delivery captain to assist in the trip from Norfolk to Washington DC, where we welcomed our granddaughter, Morgan, aboard for a week of DC sightseeing and hob knobbing in this remarkable city.
From Washington we traveled to Annapolis, without air conditioning, which was inoperable when we returned to the boat following the week with Morgan, mandating spending our nights in hotels since the temperatures during the week were in the 90's.
From Annapolis stepson Freddy and I took SeaBird II to New York, stopping at Chesapeake City. Cape May and Atlantic City on the way.
The MacDonald's and Selenski's joined us in New York for an 8 day cruise up Long Island Sound, with Huntington, Old Saybrooke, Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Newport the ports visited.
